What the metric shows

Stablecoin capitalization is the simplest measure of liquidity available to the crypto market. Money that has entered USDT or USDC is already inside the system: to buy Bitcoin, it doesn't need to go through a banking gateway.

Rising capitalization during sideways price action means accumulation of dry powder — historically this has preceded a rally. A sustained decline means capital outflow from the industry and usually accompanies prolonged bearish periods.
