What the metric shows

Exchange Balance shows how many coins physically sit where they can be instantly sold. This is a pure measure of available supply: the fewer coins on exchanges, the less selling pressure the market can withstand.

A sustained decline in the balance means investors are moving coins to cold wallets — accumulating for the long term. Historically, a multi-year downtrend in the balance accompanied bull markets, and sharp inflows to exchanges often preceded corrections.

How it is calculated

Exchange Balance = Σ balance of all known exchange addresses (SplyExNtv)
