What is Historical Volatility?
Historical Volatility (HV) is a technical indicator that quantifies the degree of price fluctuation of an asset over a defined timeframe. Unlike implied volatility, which is forward-looking, HV uses past price data to calculate volatility. It's expressed as an annualized percentage, providing a standardized measure of risk. Higher HV indicates greater price swings, while lower HV suggests more stable price action. How it Works
HV is calculated as the standard deviation of logarithmic returns. Essentially, it measures how widely prices have deviated from their average price over a given period.
